Tony Schumacher topped the pile again in the US Army car with a track record 4.430 at 328 mph but he was dropping cylinders from half track allowing Melanie Troxel to come by with a 4.539/328 to the 4.660/292 lose.

Rod Fuller was well into the 4.4s for most of the weekend gaining the number two position in qualifying. He took out some stiff competition on the way to the final where he beat Melanie Troxel to take the event honours with a 4.490/327 against the losing 4.536/325.

Another team that upped their gameplan getting into third place with a 4.479/309 was Clay Millican now committed to the full NHRA tour. Millican fell to Whit Bazemore in round two in a close race until he lost power at 1000 foot, 4.582/321 win to the 4.650/253 lose.

Brandon Bernstein took the Budweiser machine to the fourth qualifier with a 4.494/330 but his luck ran out in a match in round two against Melanie Troxel, who beat him in a pedal-fest as both smoked and got on and off the throttle the win was a 6.712/172 to the 6.815/115.

Melanie Troxel shoeing the Vietnam Veterans/POW-MIA fueller managed a 4.495/331 to take the number five spot and progressed to the final taking out several big guns on the way. Her day was ended in the final by Rod Fuller with a winning 4.490/327 to the 4.536/325.

Robert Hight in the Auto Club of Southern California/Ford recorded the quickest ever Funny Car time in history with his number one qualifier 4.636 at 327 mph. He lasted until the final where tyre shake and smoke got him crossed up losing with a 9.723/84 as Tony Pedregon wrapped up the title.

Tony Pedregon had a great weekend his 4.659/324 got him in at number two and at the end of the finals day it stood as the new national record ET. Not only did he gain that points advantage but took the event trophy with a 4.803/326 win against an out of shape Hight in the final.

Gary Scelzi the Winternationals winner performed a 4.697/330 to maintain a third place in qualifying however, in a smoking and pedalling duel with Gary Densham in round one he lost with a 5.760/215 to the winning 5.737/231.

Ron Capps put down a 4.699/330 for the number four spot, he progressed until the semis where he went out to Robert Hight, the win was a 4.783/312 as Capps stunned himself and everyone else with a red light time of 5.292/192.

Mike Ashley took the number five place with his 4.727/326 but it all fell away in round one when he could not find reverse after the burnout allowing Tim Wilkerson to progress.

Jason Line managed the number one spot with a 6.635/209 then went all the way through to the finals where his 6.676/207 was beaten by Kurt Johnson's 6.694/206.

Richie Stevens put down a 6.640/207 to take the second place in qualifying and got to round two where he lost to Kurt Johnson, a 6.688/206 to a shaking 13.886/61.

Erica Enders was on form qualifying with a 6.648/207 to enter the third place, she managed to eliminate all comers until she faced Kurt Johnson in the semi final, a holeshot 6.698/206 beat the 6.687/205

Greg Anderson ran a 6.650/209 for the fourth place and in a stunning round two occurrence he was shut off with a leak after the burnout leaving Jim Yates to get a solo pass to round three.

Warren Johnson ran a 6.652/208 for the fifth qualifier but he lost in round one when his 6.659/207 was beaten by Jim Yates' holeshot 6.692/206.
