The car ran a best of 8.2 with it's previous owner. The pic shows the car being driven by its first owner at the World Street Finals in the USA. Just one problem - what do we call you now, Cougar?

The SHOWTIME Funny Car team are looking for at least 2 new crew members for next season. All you need is a little mechanical knowledge and the ability to learn. Smart appearance and the ability to be still standing after 12 hours at the track will be an advantage.
The team are also looking for sponsors for the new car for next season, so if you'd like to see your company's name on what I reckon will be the Funny Car of 1999, you'd better act quickly.
If you're interested in either of these opportunities, email us at webmaster@eurodragster.com and we'll put you in touch with Bob.

1999 Avon Park Calendar.

Tog's Drag Racing Page and UK1320.

Ronnie Bergstrom sets the record straight.
18th November: In a press release that is sure to renew the controversy surrounding events at the European Finals, Ronnie Bergstrom tells his version of what happened at Santa Pod and leaves us in no doubt how he feels about the whole affair. Read the press release
here.

As an aside, I read the latest issue of Santa Pod Racers Club News today. It makes no mention of the controversy, but it does credit Ronnie with a 6.565, 210mph win over Mick Cheley in the first round, so even if the RAC MSA don't recognise it, it's on the record...

Petterson loses out to Schultz.
17th November: European Pro Stock Bike champion, Roger Petterson qualified #14 at Pomona last weekend. His times in the qualifiers improved steadily, 7.515/178.99, 7.512/180.46 and 7.465/180.21. Unfortunately, the trend failed to continue into the eliminations and Roger lost out to David Schultz 7.398/180.57 to 7.516 179.71. Thanks to Ivan Sansom for the info.

Flame & Thunder Timing Data.
17th November: The timing data from the Flame and Thunder Show at Santa Pod is now available at
TonyB's. There's something slightly unusual about the data, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

Explosion Board in resignation shock.
15th November: We have received an unconfirmed report that, with the exception of the chairman, the entire board of Explosion, the premier Dutch drag racing club, resigned earlier this week. We hope to get more information later.

Sponsor needed for UK Junior Dragster.
15th November: Sponsorship is being sought for England's only Junior Dragster, to be raced in 1999 at Santa Pod and possibly also at Avon Park. Your company name will be seen by a minimum of 90,000 people annually, and advertising on a RaceCar is one of the best ways to get clients to buy your products. If you're interested in this unique opportunity, please email
Paul Lindley-Allen.

Top Alcohol Dragster for sale: 286" Chassis by Hanson Race Cars USA / 437ci Stage Six Keith Black. See ETARA web site for full details.

New web sites.
15th November: A couple of new web sites to check out: http://www.dragracinguk.demon.co.uk is a site put together by a couple of new drag race fans from the UK, while http://w1.810.telia.com/~u81002327/homepage.htm seems to be a Swedish-Italian drag racing/beer/food site (what more could a drag race fan ask for?)

Super Street Car wanted: It must be a full tubbed car with or without the engine and all the goodies on it, and it must have a registration for the road. Email: cougar@cistron.nl

Web site updates.
14th November: Photographs from the Flame and Thunder Show at Santa Pod can be seen on
Tog's Drag Racing Page, while Svensk Dragracing has added a new gallery of pictures from the combined Bilsport Performance Show / Svensk Prizegiving Banquet. A couple of new web sites: Paul Willis' Pro Stock Bike site is at http://www.dragracing.co.uk/ and younger visitors may be interested in Alan Lambert's Tot Rods at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/alambert4/ (don't worry, there's a few customs for dad to look at, too).
Don't forget to tell us when you update your web site. Just email news@eurodragster.com

European entries for Prostar Finals.
5th November: Our thanks to Ian King (ian@dragbikes.com) for sending us the list of European entrants for the Prostar Finals. Phil Brachtvogel, Rob van Geffen, Brian Johnson and Roel Koedam run in Top Fuel Bike, Ton Pels in Funny Bike and Paul Willis in Pro Stock Bike. Ton is entered in Funny Bike because there is no separate class for the supertwins and Rob runs in Top Fuel because supercharged twins are not allowed in Funny Bike. The Brachtvogels have bought back their last bike from it's owner in Switzerland and plan to update it before campaigning it again.

Wanted: Exhibitionist.

Julie is looking for a drag racer willing to come along and do burnouts in the "Live action arena" on both days. If any one is interested they should contact Julie on 0181 974 9111. Come on folks, let's show those cornering types how to handle a real race car!

Interview with Niclas Andersson.

Flame and Thunder news.
1st November: Only eleven cars and twenty one bikes are reported to have entered the Flame and Thunder Show at Santa Pod Raceway next weekend (Saturday 7th November). As with the rain-curtailed October Meet, there will be no separate class eliminations: all cars are in one bracket and all bikes in one bracket on a "set your own dial-in" basis.

Barry Sheavills (Top Fuel Dragster), John Spuffard ("DJB Showtime" Fuel FC) and Gordon Smith ("Shockwave" Fuel FC) will be putting in demonstration runs, as will Martin Hill in the "Fireforce" Jet Funny Car and Ronnie Picardo in the "Roaring Thunder" Jet Truck. A Jet Quad Bike which has appeared at several races in Europe will also be running for the first time in the UK.
